I haven't cooked much this week. All I have to report is that my bowels are not doing well. No, not good at all. I might have jarassciatis or something.

Other things of minor note..

It seems that we've been banned from buying fresh chicken. Bird flu. Some butcher sells it on the black market sometimes, but we still can't buy that. The Kurdish Gov'ment has issued a decree banning sales. I don't get it. The morning cook gets fresh chicken, why can't I? Why must be given frozen chicken at 4:00pm? I want my chicken fresh damn it.

Kurds only eat tomato paste. No tomato sauce. No fire-roasted diced tomatoes in juice. Only paste.

Hil made fried rice.

Chief of Party made something on Sunday. Couscous.

Another guy is making masguff tonight. Masguff is fish. Cooked by the fire.

Oh the misery..

Not dead yet, and my bowels are feeling much better for the time being. But yes, I am cooking for all the work people I live with (16), any guests that come through (from the home office in Bethesda or another of the offices in Iraq, which has been more than 7 at once), or any of our local office staff who are hanging around playing foozball or watching the world cup (usually just 1). It's hard to keep track of how many people are around at any given time, so its guess work.

The ice cream hasn't been tried yet, since I haven't found a source of cream yet. One of these days I was thinking of doing up some sorbet or maybe some old school Mexican paletas.

Anyways, back to practicing my bob and weave..
